Our Vision

Inspired by a Love for Sandwiches.

Philly is known for its world-famous sandwiches—and at Huda, we're taking them to new places.

Located in the heart of Rittenhouse, Huda is a fast-casual sandwich shop that delivers something familiar, but different.

The difference starts with our chef-owner, Yehuda Sichel. Yehuda got his start in a Jewish deli as a teenager, then went on to work in some of Philly’s most respected kitchens, including Brasserie Perrier, RAE, Zahav, and Abe Fisher. At Huda, he’s come full circle—bringing fine-dining technique, creativity, and attention to detail back to where it all began: sandwiches.

So, What’s a Huda Sandwich?

Start with a classically trained chef, add a deep Philly sandwich heritage, and finish with a big dose of imagination—and you get the Huda sandwich.

It’s soft, bold, and full of flavor. Built on house-baked Japanese milk buns, every sandwich is a reflection of our love for comfort food done differently.

From short rib grilled cheeses to smash burgers to spicy Korean-style chicken sandwiches, Huda sandwiches don’t just hit the spot—they carve out their own.

We also bake soft, gooey cinnamon buns using the same dough, craft our pickles in-house, and serve fresh seasonal salads made with local produce. At Huda, we take pride in doing things from scratch whenever we can.

Why Japanese Milk Bread?

Also known as shokupan, Japanese milk bread is famous for its soft, fluffy texture and slightly sweet flavor. It was first introduced in Japan in the early 20th century by a Japanese baker who had trained in Europe, blending Western baking techniques with local preferences.

Using a traditional Japanese method called tangzhong—where flour is cooked with water into a paste before being mixed into the dough—this bread locks in moisture, giving it a tender crumb and extended freshness.

We bake every Huda bun in-house using this method. It takes four days to get it right—but the result is worth it.

Soft, rich, and just slightly sweet—Japanese milk bread is the perfect partner for the kind of sandwiches we love to make.
